Student Self-Scheduling

Update your Scheduling Profile to indicate what grade levels you wish to use the self-scheduling.  (This refers to the grade level they are going into next year).  For any grade levels you check, you will receive a box to type in instructions for that grade level on how you wish for them to self schedule.

Once you have the grade levels picked on your Scheduling profile, then the students going into that grade level will see the "Self-Scheduling" choice on the Family Access.  This basically gives them a drop/add type of form where they can click the + sign to add classes to any period.  Any periods with a padlock by them mean that those classes are locked in by the office.  The student cannot change those.  This allows you to place certain classes ahead of time if necessary.  Additionally, they can touch the "trash can" icon next to classes not locked in to take them out and replace them with another choice.

When they do look at the courses for a particular period, they will see notations as to which courses qualify towards their graduation track.  Also, they will be able to see the "Full Description" on the master course, if there is one entered in.  If the class is full, they will not be able to pick that particular section.

On the right side of the self-schedule screen, they see the "recommended" courses to take.  These are courses from their course request and potential courses from their four year plan.  In parenthesis next to these recommended courses, it lists the periods they are offered.

In the office, you will see the same type of screen in Guidance...Next Year...Student Classes.  This view allows you to either click anywhere in the white space to see a quick reference of the schedule OR you can touch on the student name to open the drop/add.  This will be basically the same drop/add that the student sees.

When touching on the student name, you can add/remove classes in the same way students do.  Touch the + sign to add classes or touch the trash can to remove a class.  Once completed, counselors have three buttons at the top for saving the schedule.  They can touch "Submit" which saves the schedule.  The can touch "Accept Schedule" which changes the background color of the schedule from blue (meaning student submitted online) to white (meaning they have reviewed it) so that they can easily see which schedules have been reviewed.  Lastly, they can touch "Lock" which means the schedule will be locked in and it cannot be changed by students self-scheduling or by someone running the scheduler on the office side.
